The Butterfly Place

Since we love butterflies in this house (at least Kayla and I do) I decided to take Kayla to the Butterfly Farm in Westford, MA.  My mom (aka Grandma) 

came along with us.  Kayla was in awe of the 100s of butterflies flying all around her.  She LOVED it.  She just stared at the room in all different directions for a good hour.  Unfortunately there were no butterflies that landed on her but we did get her her own cocoon to bring home.  We have been watching it everyday and can't wait for it to hatch into a butterfly.  It's so sad though because we learned that butterflies only live for 3 weeks tops.  So as soon as it blooms into a beautiful butterfly we are going to set it free in our backyard.  I can't wait.  I think Jake will enjoy watching this thing fly away too.  He's always watching the bugs fly around so he's definitely going to love this!  

So after the butterfly farm Grandma treated us to Chili's before taking us to the mall and buying us some cool things.  Kayla got a new outfit, a cool new Red Sox hat and lots of socks (which she desperately needed) and I got some new makeup.  We even splurged and had some soft serve ice cream from Brigham's.  All in all we had a great day!

Anyways, when Kayla gets a little older (maybe next summer) I want to take her back to the butterfly farm because I think she'll have even more fun when she can actually walk around herself.  I highly recommend this place if you enjoy butterflies.  It's very educational and so beautiful.

Kayla's New Swing Set

We'll today was another rainy, dreadful day, so I spent most of it taking pictures of Kayla and rearranging her clothes now that she can't fit into her 3-6 months.  I had to pack them up and bring out the 6-9 monthers.  I hope she can get a few months out of these since she has so many.  But I'd also like to see her grow.  It's a no win situation!  Also, Kayla's swing set finally is complete with the thanks to my brother and Jason.  She loves to swing but I can't wait until she can use the slide and climb up on the little house...it's so cute!!  Anyways, here are a few pictures.  Enjoy!

Officially a MODEL!!!!

As some of you know Kayla was contacted (we'll her mommy was) by the model agency, Model Inc., who saw her picture(s) hanging up in "The Picture People" at the Burlington Mall.  I was not sure about this at first because I know how they can scam you into paying them up front to get her into modeling, etc.  We'll I decided to just go and meet with the agency in person and bring Kayla to meet the director.  I figured what the hell, why not.  Worst comes to worst we leave and say no.  At least we got out of the house and saw what a model agency looks like.

We'll the director LOVED her.  She loved her personality and how happy she was the entire time we were there.  They took a bunch of pictures of her and saw how she reacted to the camera (which she absolutely loves by now because her mommy is a photo fanatic who has about 2000 pictures of her since birth).  The director said she'd have to discuss Kayla with her coworkers and would let us know.  We'll Saturday we got a letter accepting Kayla into their agency.  There was no fee, no strings attached, nothing!  I read all the fine print!  So we are so excited.  We signed the contract and are waiting on her first job.  Kayla will actually get to go on photo shoots and MAYBE even a commercial or two.  The only downside of this whole thing is that if she makes over a certain amount of money we will have to file taxes for her at the end of the year! LOL  Not a bad downside though.  Also, we have to give the agency 10% of whatever she makes which is completely understandable.  How else would they make their money!  

For those of you who think it's wrong to let their child into this industry will just have to accept it.  We are not going to make her do this like some parents.  If she starts to hate it then we are going to stop right away.  We will NEVER make her do anything she doesn't want to (except maybe eat her vegetables).  But for now we figure she can have fun and get paid to do it and maybe even have the best education when she gets older.  We're so proud of her!!!

Nine to Nine

I was able to keep Kayla up until 9:00 last night.  (I was hoping for 8 but time flew by and before we knew it it was 9).  So anyways, I woke up this morning at 8:00 and looked over at the monitor and Kayla was still fast asleep.  I was shocked!  I layed in bed for about a half hour watching the monitor and then got up and ate some breakfast.  At 9:00 I went back in to look at the monitor and she was just about waking up.  She was just lying there playing with rocket (her stuffed animal).  So I basically went in there and talked to her for a few minutes before picking her up and taking her into the kitchen to eat.  It was the best morning I've had in a long long time!  I'm hoping it will repeat tonight.  So far it's 7:15 and she's still up.  She used to go to bed at 6:30 and wake up around 5:30.  It would be so great if she would be one of those babies who sleeps not only 12 hours but nine to nine!!!  

Update on Bike

So yesterday was the big day.  Jason went and picked up his new bike.  He's been out joyriding all day having a blast.  Kayla got to sit and try it out with daddy but daddy will never take her for a ride.  In fact I think he'll keep her locked up in the house as she gets older.  He's very protective of her.  So here are a few pictures of the bike.  This is basically all we have been doing for the past two days just trying to prepare to pick it up, running to the registry, the insurance company, etc.  So now he (we) can finally enjoy it.  Hopefully I'll get to take a ride with him one day.

Jason's New Bike

We'll I never thought the day would come but Jason is brining home a new Harley Davidson tomorrow.  He is so excited.  We just wish it wasn't raining but thank god he only has to drive about fifteen minutes away.  We've been spending the past week trying to get everything in order and make sure tomorrow goes smoothly so I'm (we're) exhausted.  Unfortunately we have to be there to pick it up at 8am (bright and early)!  Kayla will have no problem waking up and she'll be the only one in a happy mood.  Jason and I will be half asleep.  But after a trip to Dunkin Donuts I think we will be okay.  Anyways, I will have pictures up tomorrow of the new addition.  Hope everyone is staying dry this week!

~A Busy Few Days~

The past few days have been pretty busy for us.  Jason has the week off so we starting putting the swing set together yesterday.  We only made it halfway through it but we're hoping to finish by the weekend.  It's a lot of work!!  But it's worth it for the little princess.

Last night we got a break from "parenthood" and got to go out to dinner to Border Cafe while Grandma came over after work to babysit Kayla.  We had a nice dinner and I was able to sit for 45 minutes and not have to do anything.  It was great!  Kayla also had a good time with grandma and was a good girl.  She went right to bed after grandma read her the "Little Einsteins" story.

Today Jason surprised me with a really nice exercise bike.  I thought we were just getting a basic one but he actually went out and got the really nice ones they have at the gym.  I love it!!!  Now I have to get my butt into gear and get back on track with my exercise routine and diet.  No excuses anymore!!

While Jason was out shopping for a bike, Kayla and I went food shopping.  Today was her first time ever sitting in the shopping cart at the supermarket.  I bought one of those "floppy" seats and she loved it.  She had toys to play with and loved eating the strap!  She was smiling and laughing at everyone, especially the old guys for some reason.  So now food shopping is ten times better which is such a relief.  

After food shopping we headed over to the library and picked up a few more of Kayla's favorite books.  She has been loving anything that has to do with "The Little Einstein's."  So I've been getting lots of books from the library for her and a few dvd's.  She loves the library too!  She likes watching all the little kids look for books and play in the play area.

Oh and one last thing.  Kayla has been eating Strawberry flavored puffs and freeze-dried fruit snacks.  She absolutely loves them.  She's getting really good at picking them up.  She usually picks up about 5 at a time and they all fall out of her hand as she tries to put them in her mouth.  Then one sticks to her hands and she somehow maneuvers it into her mouth and chomps away at it.  It's so cute!
